MUM’S PAINTING

"Wonder of the World" by Anya Adams

There’s no doubt about it, I get my artistic streak from my mum. I’m so excited to see that she’s still painting I thought I’d share it here. Keep on painting, Mum!  -S.

GIFT WRAP, TEA PAINTING & DEADEYES

Tea Painting

I feel like I haven’t blogged in a while. After rebuilding my site, spending time categorizing my past blog posts and learning my way around Corel Painter I guess I haven’t had much time for blogging. So this is just a quick post about stuff that’s been going on over the last month or so. First off, I got some goodies from Spoonflower. Here is my Princess Leia drawing as gift wrap. Fun!   And here are the swatches of {Read More}

I KNOW A MAGICIAN!

Photo by Richard Faverty © It’s true! Back in January of 2011 a good friend of mine hosted a MothUP event, based on The Moth, a show on NPR where people get up and tell true stories in front of a live audience. It was at this story telling party that I met Robert Strong, the Comedy Magician.  Robert’s been performing since 1985 and has taken his act all around the world. Some of the stories Robert has told during the {Read More}

KICKSTARTER GOODIES ARE HERE!

You may remember that last year I backed two different Kickstarter projects. Well I got my swag and because of the success of both campaigns, backers received lots of extra add-on goodies to sweeten the deal. Let’s take a look! Dylan Meconis Kickstarter goodies Ooh! Glossy! We’ll start with the Dylan Meconis Library 2012. This is quite a collection! The 13th anniversary edition of her graphic novel, Bite Me! looks gorgeous with the selective gloss. Apparently there was some sort of {Read More}

DON MAKES FILMS!

Don McVey My brother and I have known Don since we were wee bairns, back in Scotland. The two of them worked at the same company Amsterdam in the early 2000's and I got the opportunity to visit. The best part of my trip was Don and his friend leading me back to my brother's flat on bicycles. Riding bikes over the canals and cobblestones at night was awesome,  I hope to do it again some day. When he’s not {Read More}

  I’ve made a poster for a Creative Allies contest for Aaron Neville’s new album, ‘My True Story,’ coming out January 22nd. I don’t know how I missed it, but up until a month ago I had no idea he had a tattoo on his face. Please take a moment to click the link and vote on it and while you’re at it, check out this video of Aaron Neville and his duet with Ernie, one of my favorite Sesame {Read More}

HAPPY NEW *COUGH* YEAR!

Happy New Year, friends! I woke up with a nasty cold on the 1st of the year and have been feeling pretty bad ever since. Last night I declared that I would feel better today, but I woke up feeling even worse. Not a great start to the year but it has given me plenty of time to read book four of the George R. R. Martin series, A Song of Ice and Fire. I'm really enjoying those books, the {Read More}

THE HAWKEYE INITIATIVE

Photo courtesy of The Hawkeye Initiative Do you ever find yourself looking at a comic and seeing a female character depicted in a particularly ridiculous pose, all contorted and usually with her bum sticking out  and think "C'mon guys, really?!"  Well the folks at The Hawkeye Initiative sure did. The Hawkeye Initiative is a Tumblr blog dedicated to redrawing these ridiculous, anti-gravity, back straining, Gumby poses with Hawkeye in place of the luscious ladies and the results are hilarious!  Check 'em out! {Read More}

PLAYLISTING

I haven't talked much about music on my blog but it's a huge part of my life. I draw a lot of inspiration from the tunes I listen to and love to make art to a good soundtrack. I've been using Spotify for a while now and have created about 25 playlists so far. Here's one that gets my creative juices flowin'. Enjoy!  -S.
