HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Image courtesy of JoshSundquist.com It’s Halloween, my favorite holiday of the year! I hope you all have a fun and safe one. Artist and all around nice guy, Rhode Montijo posted this lovely Halloween piece on his blog. Also, check out author, speaker and paralympian, Josh Sundquist’s costume, it's a winner. He dressed up as the leg lamp from A Christmas Story! I love how well done this costume is and it even lights up!  Kudos to Josh and Happy Halloween everyone!  -S. Image {Read More}

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN’S CHILDREN

On July 4th of this year my boyfriend posted this article on his Facebook page. It's about an American journalist who launched an investigation into the alleged mass abuse, torture and possible murder of  children at the Haut de la Garenne children's home on the island of Jersey. It's long and the subject matter is hard to deal with but it is so incredibly important that we pay attention to these kinds of stories and open our eyes to what {Read More}

TIG AT LARGO IS HERE!

A recording of the now infamous evening at the Largo in which Tig Notaro shared the news that she was diagnosed with breast cancer is here. It's $5 and it's available on Louis CK's website. I'll be giving this a listen later on this evening, as I'm sure it's going to be pretty heavy.  -S Edited to add: I just listened to it and I have to say that I really feel that Tig Notaro is one of the greats. Incredibly {Read More}

MOVING

I haven't been posting lately because we moved last weekend. Not very far away but the place is smaller so it's been a challenge. Moving is tough and stressful but we're really loving our new cozy, little home. It's close to a park and the beach and it's got that 1950's charm, it really is going to be a lovely home once we are finished unpacking. I haven’t been working on art or even posting about it lately since I’ve been {Read More}

TIG NOTARO UPDATE

FRESCO FAIL GOES MUNNY!

Image courtesy of kidrobot.com News of the unfortunate attempt by a Spanish octogenarian, Cecilia Giminez, to restore a 19th century fresco has exploded all over the internet with spoofs and many a facepalm. And now this, a custom Mini Munny by London designer Joanna Zhou. There's also some video of the would-be restoration artist near the bottom of the page which is pretty cringe worthy in its awkwardness.   -S.

NINA SIMONE BIOPIC IN THE WORKS!

According to this IMDB entry, there's a Nina Simone flick in the works! Woot!  But it looks like Zoe Saldana will be playing Nina…   -S.

INVISIBLE BIKE HELMETS

The Invisible Bicycle Helmet | Fredrik Gertten from Focus Forward Films on Vimeo. These two lovely ladies had an idea… and it’s a pretty amazing one. Check it out! -S

ZINE MADNESS!: THE 90’s – PART ONE

Recently, I got my old comic boxes from my dad's garage and I found some goodies I thought were long gone; my old staff t-shirt from Clay's Comics, some signed 8 x10 glossy photos from when I went with a friend and fellow comic shop goon, Chason  (writer of one of the zines mentioned below, 'Halo'), to see Radiohead back in ’95 (that's us up front! I'm the pale chick with the super long hair. Also: Steve Masters!!!) , a 'My Little {Read More}
