PORTRAITS OF THE TROOPS

Kaziah Hancock is one of a small group of artists who are part of “Project Compassion,” a group who give their time and artistic skills to providing families of fallen soldiers with an original portrait of their loved one. NOW-DEPRECATED AESTHETIC

An article (with a slideshow of some of the work!) was recently posted on The Alamedan about ‘The Altered Paintings Project’ show, on now through June 9th at REDUX Studios & Gallery. The write up is by Michael Singman-Aste, a local award winning photographer, curator and blogger. In it we learn how the idea for the show came to be, how Chris Rummell, manager at REDUX acquired the originals and that Chris is thinking about making this a yearly show! I love {Read More}

PAMELA GOES ICE FISHIN’

Tonight was the opening reception of ‘The Altered Paintings Project’ and the turnout was pretty fantastic! So was my beehive! There were some pretty great pieces in the show and some of them were snatched up in the first hour. There were some rad motifs including unicorns, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, ninjas and swirling masses of garbage in the ocean. A lot of the pieces were done as collage, some were done with pens, others with glitter and some {Read More}

PHOTOGRAPHING ART

Hello readers! Yesterday I finished my piece for the ‘Altered Paintings’ show that I mentioned in a previous post and I had a lot of fun doing it. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the other artists had to work with and what they’ve ended up with. PEACOCK INSPIRED FABRIC!

  I like to sew and I even worked in a fabric store for a short time in my teens so I’ve thought quite a bit about designing patterns for fabrics. Today I received the proof of my first fabric design and I’m pretty happy with it and it is now available for sale on Spoonflower.com. I got a fat quarter which is 21″ x 18″ of the basic combed cotton which is a very light, thin fabric. There are ten {Read More}

PRINCESS LEIA PRINT

    I have been working on this Princess Leia drawing for the last couple of weeks and I’m really excited to have it finished! Prints will be going up for sale (sans watermarks, of course) on my Etsy shop as soon as I get some proof prints done. The finished size will be about 6″ x 11″ and will come with a small card describing each element as well. A friend suggested it would look good as a t-shirt {Read More}

REDUX STUDIOS & GALLERY

Recently, Redux Studios & Gallery in Alameda put out a call for artists for an upcoming art show called ‘Altered Paintings’ and I went in today and picked up the painting I’m going to alter. It was the last one so I was going to either take or leave it and I took it. I have to say, this one’s going to be a challenge, but hopefully I’ll rise to meet it. Speaking of meeting, while I was there I {Read More}
