Happy New Year! I haven’t been posting much lately because I’ve been busy redecorating. Do you have any cheap IKEA furniture that you are absolutely sick of looking at? Then try painting it! This morning I finished applying a finishing wax to some IKEA chairs I’ve had for about 10 years. If you have never used Annie Sloan’s chalk paint, I recommend it. One coat covers really well but allows the natural wood grain to show through giving a really nice texture. I did scrub the chairs with a TSP substitute first to clean the chairs thoroughly. The table was painted with Milk Paint and took a lot of coats to get the look I wanted. I’m really happy with the way these came out! The table had a laminated coating on it so it was tough to get the paint to adhere but with some persistence and research I got the job done.

I have some more projects I’m thinking of tackling, but I’m also itching to get a couple of art projects knocked out as well so we’ll see. Have you ever made over any furniture? Post some photos in the comments below!  –S.
